Biomarker functional analysis

The joint activities of basic scientists, biostatisticians and translational cancer researchers in CCB will lead to the identification of a number of genes and gene products that are potential biomarkers in cancer. The objective of this SP is to perform detailed biological studies of such potential biomarkers, and to validate their potential clinical utility as as prognostic or diagnostic markers.

Central activities in this programme are the following:

• Identification of potential biomarkers for cancer using genetic and epigenetic approaches

• Functional characterization of biomarker proteins in cellular assays

• Validation of the prognostic value of potential biomarkers in clinical samples
